CHAPEL OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BABY

It was built in 1728-29. The main founder was Anna Rzewuska Krasicka, castellan of Chełm. We enter the chapel through a richly decorated portal. At the top of the portal there is a medallion
with a bust of the founder. On the left side of the medallion, there is the Krasicki coat of arms, and the Rzewuski coat of arms on the right. A pair of putti with the shields of the Pilawa and Pogoń coats overlap with the frieze (coats related to Princess Czetwerczyńska, the first wife of the founder’s husband). A drapery with the Unicorn coat was hung in the lintel.

It is a rather spacious chapel, covered with a barrel vault, on the buttresses, with two lunettes (windows),
with rich stucco and polychrome. The conch above the altar was decorated with frescoes of the Holy Spirit. in the form of a dove, God the Father, and two adoring angels. On the vault there are paintings depicting: Saint. Dominica and Saint. Tomasz, whom Our Lady gives to the relics of the Holy Cross and the scene of handing over the relic of the Cross to the Dominicans by Bishop Andrzej. The theme of decoration is related to the original purpose of the chapel. The relics of the Holy Cross were to be kept here

The altar in the baroque style dates from around 1729, but the picture of Our Lady is later. He was painted by Feliks Pęczarski before 1838. The picture frame comes from the second half of XVIII century.
